Twists & Turns Of Life

So....the girls & myself venture down to Max's house. Caleb had to work and Shane & Erik can rarely be detached from their computers. As I'm leaving, Nathan walks out and says he might ride his "hog" down there to work on the safe. There's a huge gun safe in Max's house, or was, which was bolted to the floor.

The drive seemed longer than usual today for some reason. We get there and are piddling around. The young couple who will be living in the house show up not long after.

Since the the light folks so sweetly cut off the electricity everything in the freezer/refrigerator ruined. I was so worried about it. Just knew the refrigerator would have to be tossed. There were two new things of ice cream, meat, veggies, frozen dinners, etc. in the freezer. It stunk. Ain't no lying about that. It didn't stink in the house until the doors were opened but she smelled worse than me going to town yesterday for sure. Got all of that out and cloroxed everything repeatedly. She's shining like a new penny now and I think it'll be all right.

Now for the interesting part. While I'm cleaning, Nathan moves my daddy's truck, which I had driven, around the yard before loading the safe. No problem. Go on about our business. He decides he and his "hog" are heading home some time later. The young couple leave and it's just the girls & myself. We get everything loaded into the truck, get situated....no keys. Hunt all in the truck, the house...

Nathan refuses to carry a cell phone. We have an extra since his daddy died but he wants no part of modern technology. So....can't contact him while he's en route to home. I call my parents and tell them the situation. Daddy listens out for the 'hog' (trust me, you can hear it coming miles away) and stops him as he's coming in. Sure 'nuff. He has the keys in his pocket. It's getting dark down at Max's house but the girls & myself count stars, play in the yard, and light an oil lamp.

Ya know one can't put their 'hog' back into it's house without proper preparation. Rolling Eyes I think he was hoping my daddy would volunteer to drive down there with the keys but I told him he'd best not. Besides, Paw Paw was in charge of picking son #1 up from work at 9:30. At first he said he was going to drive "Bertha." Mind you he has four things in the yard he could drive. His reasoning for Bertha? Quote..."bugs are bad tonight." He musta been scared of the wrath of MeMaw cause he drove his little "Toy" truck instead. Me thinks he was kinda skeered of venturing into their house to retrieve Bertha's keys as I had left her up there when I swiped Paw Paw's truck. Devil He finally rolled into Max's yard about 10:20.

So...it is now 12:46 a.m. and my dear sweet, absolutely normal, husband is outside under the yard light cleaning bugs off his truck. *snort* Me thinks I'll go snooze a while.
